What Home Means to Me Poster Contest
Submission Deadline: June 21, 2024
Eligibility:
Open to all children grades K-12 residing in affordable housing assisted directly or supported under community development and affordable housing programs administered by a NAHRO Member authority (i.e. public housing, Section 8/HCV-assisted housing, CDBG, HOME, LIHTC.)
Specifications:
- Theme: "What Home Means to Me"
- Poster size must be 22" x 28" and in Landscape/Horizontal orientation to be considered for national judging.
- Contestant may use marker, crayon, paint, or colored pencils.
- Please consider posters will need to be packaged and mailed flat.
- All contestants must fill out/sign the application and photo release, as well as complete a short summary on the inspiration/vision of their submission. The contestant's name, grade level, age, and housing authority must be written on the back of their poster.
Selection Categories:
- Elementary School: K - 5th Grade
- Middle School: 6th - 8th Grade
- High School: 9th - 12th Grade
State Competition:
Each state association will hold a poster contest submitted by local PHAs and will select a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner from each selection category based on how well the artwork reflects "What Home Means to Me". The winning posters will be submitted to compete in the SERC-NAHRO regional competition.
SERC Competition:
SERC-NAHRO will hold a Regional Poster competition at Annual Conference where NAHRO Fellows will select a 1st place winner in each selection category. The winning posters will then be submitted to compete in the National Housing America Competition.
How to Submit:
State entries must be received no later than Friday, June 21, 2024. Judging will take place on Sunday, June 23, 2024, and the NAHRO fellows will serve as the judges for this competition.
